Speech Context

This is an excerpt of a speech that was given by Quanah Parker, at a picnic event, which was organized by Congressman Bird McGuire. The recording of the speech occurred in 1937, but the speech must have taken place between 1907, (The year Congressman Bird was elected,) and 1911, when Quanah passed away.

 

Speech

"We love you white men, but we have fear of your success because it is so dry.  This is a pretty country but you white men take it away from us. The only thing this country is good for is red ants, coyotes, and cattle men."
